Off we go into another year for this blog, and I start it with a journalist, as reporters are becoming ever so more important in the Age of Trump.
Julia Ainsley is NBC News's national security and justice reporter. She covered the Paul Manafort trial in Virginia earlier this year.
Her rise has been rapid. A graduate of Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, she was an intern at the Chicago Tribune in the summer of 2010, where she wrote for the lifestyle section. She worked for Thomson Reuters as a criminal justice correspondent and also covered Congress for the National Journal before arriving at NBC News.
